Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Trung is the Rector of Ho Chi Minh University of Banking (HUB), where he also serves as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the University Council. Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from the Banking Academy of Vietnam and an MBA from L’Universite Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2016. ince 2018, he has led HUB’s internationalisation strategy, forging partnerships with over 102 global universities and institutions, including the Zurich University, National University of Singapore, Hong Kong University ,University of Bolton, Anglia Ruskin University, Heriot-Watt University, the University of Greenwich, the London Institute of Banking and Finance, ACCA. Under his leadership, HUB has expanded joint international degree programs, engaged in Erasmus+ and British Academy research projects, and introduced cutting-edge industry collaborations such as the FiinPro-X platform with FiinGroup, positioning HUB as a leading Vietnamese university with a strong global presence.

In addition, he serves as a Member of the Scientific and Technological Council of the Banking sector, and as Editor-in-Chief of the Asia Economic and Banking Journal. He is also a core editorial board member for proceedings of the annual International Econometric Conference of Vietnam (ECONVN). Over his career, he has received numerous honors, including the Prime Minister’s Certificate of Merit (2011), two Certificates of Merit from the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (2011, 2014).
