Mr. Van Ba Son currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City, where he is responsible for directing and promoting the development of tourism products toward green and sustainable growth. His work emphasizes community-based and rural agricultural tourism models that contribute to inclusive and environmentally responsible development.

Since 2022, Mr. Son has led the Department’s tourism management  division in close collaboration with the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development (ST4SD) program, implementing initiatives to promote green tourism practices in Da Nang. Under his guidance, the Department has advanced joint efforts with ST4SD to achieve international recognition for the Green Tourism Criteria, which was originally developed for Quang Nam Province, with the vision of adapting and applying these criteria across the entire city of Da Nang — and eventually nationwide.

Mr. Son was an Australia Awards Scholar and holds a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of South Australia. His leadership reflects Da Nang’s commitment to positioning itself as a pioneering destination for sustainable and regenerative tourism in Viet Nam.
