Johan has been living and working in Vietnam since 1998 and was the CEO of HSC Securities for 13 years from 2007. Johan handed over his CEO responsibilities in April 2020 and has been a member of HSC’s Board of Directors. HSC is one of Vietnam’s top investment banking and securities brokerage firms which has been established since 2003. In addition to HSC, Johan currently also holds other board positions at Dragon Capital VFM, NAFoods Group, as well as advisor positions at various private and startup companies.

Before HSC, Johan spent nine years with HSBC in various management positions in commercial and corporate banking in Vietnam. Prior to that, Johan began his banking career in the US at

First Union Bank (now Wells Fargo) where he spent eight years specializing in international banking with responsibilities for the Southeast Asia markets. In addition to his board responsibilities, Johan is also involved in the business community as a Vice Chairman of the CEO Club of Ho Chi Minh City, a Vice Chairman at the Vietnam Association of Securities Businesses (VASB), a Vice Chairman at the Vietnam Association of Financial Investors (VAFI). In the past he was also a member of the Board of Advisors to the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HSX), a chairperson for the financial sector at the Vietnam Private Economic Forum and at one point a Board governor of the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) Hanoi Chapter in Vietnam.
